Catherine Warrington, lovingly known as Cassie, of Bluffton, South Carolina, tragically lost her life on Thursday night following a domestic shooting on Hilton Head Island.
She was 50 years old.
The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office identified Cassie as one of two victims found deceased after deputies responded to reports of gunshots around 11:30 p.m. on Lark Street on Hilton Head Island.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, Cassie and 62-year-old David Duffey of Hilton Head Island were discovered outside the residence.
Authorities later identified the suspect as 52-year-old Dustin Linsley of Bluffton.
According to officials, the suspect fled the scene but was later located at a residence on Promenade Street in Bluffton.
After hours of negotiation, deputies entered the home and found the suspect deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The investigation remains ongoing as the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office continues to examine the circumstances that led to the tragic events.
While the details surrounding the shooting are still under review, those who knew Cassie remember her for something far greater than the circumstances of her passing.
Friends described her as a bright and joyful presence who brought warmth wherever she went.
One close friend shared heartfelt words, calling her “our sweet Cassie,” and remembering how she brought joy to everyone around her.
